Diary of a Divorced Muslim Man
BEYOND DIVORCE

Some stories begin long before the moment that breaks us.

I thought I was writing about divorce. But as I began looking more closely at what had happened, I found myself returning to experiences much earlier in my life.

To childhood. To fatherhood. To the things I'd learned to carry without speaking about them, and the ways those experiences had shaped the man I'd become.

Somewhere along the way, I began to understand that the story wasn't only about the ending of a marriage. It was also about everything that had come before it, and what I needed to understand if I was going to move forward.

FROM THE PAGES
“ I did not set out to write a book. I set out to survive.”
Tafazal Mohammed, Dear Reader

The walls that once held me together had quietly become the very things that were keeping me from myself. It wasn't just the end of a marriage. It was the beginning of a much deeper conversation about who I was, what I had carried, and what it might mean to finally let some of it go.

“A profound and important contribution. This book offers a rare and honest exploration of faith, masculinity, emotional wellbeing and the realities of divorce within a Muslim context. It will resonate with many.”

Professor Rasjid Skinner Consultant Clinical Psychologist & Chair of Trustees, Ihsaan Islamic Psychotherapy Research Academy

“It’s more than a diary; it is therapy on paper.”

Professor Dr Musharraf Hussain Translator of The Majestic Quran

“This is not just a diary. It is a mirror for many men who have never seen themselves fully reflected in books, mosques, or society.”

Amit Prakash

This book isn’t only for divorced Muslim men.

It’s also for:

  • Men carrying the weight of responsibility, loss or difficult life transitions.
  • Fathers trying to understand the impact of their experiences on their children.
  • Men who struggle to find the words for what they’re feeling.
  • Wives, mothers, daughters and sisters who want to understand the men in their lives.
  • Anyone interested in the relationship between faith, emotional healing and personal responsibility.

Not everyone will have lived this story. But many will recognise something of themselves, or someone they love, within its pages.
